Spectacular pair of hand carved and gold lacquered guardian warriors riding mystical animals. Circa early 19th century. These were part of a Chinese Buddhist temple or monastery. The wooden statues show a great deal of detail in their carving technique. The figures show expected wear given their age, please inspect pictures carefully. Gold gilt remains in very good condition.
