Unique pair of lamps made from vintage Florsheim solid wood shoe stretchers. The word 'Florsheim' is engraved on each shoe-lamp. Other engravings include shoe size 7 1/2 M and 'Slip On' on the bottom. The base has a beautiful warm color of old wood. The lamps would be a wonderful decor element in a variety of home styles, from industrial to classic American to chic-antique.

Florsheim shoes is a symbol of the 20th-century America. Florsheim & Co. was founded in 1892 by Milton S. Florsheim. He and his father Sigmund made their first shoes in Chicago. As Florsheim shoes were gaining popularity, they became featured in magazines such as The Saturday Evening Post and The Cosmopolitan. By the time of the Great Depression, the company had 2,500 employees, 5 factories and 71 retail outlets. During WWII, they made shoes for the American troops. In 1949, Florsheim retail stores revolutionized the industry by bringing shoes out of the back rooms and into stores for customers to browse through freely. This novel practice soon became the norm in stores around the country.
