Pirkenhammer Porcelain Factory was established in 1803 by Friedrich Holke and Johann Gotlob List. It was located in a Bohemian village Pirkenhammer (Czech Brezova) near Karlovy Vary, also known as Karlsbad. The mark of the crossed hammers is the Pirkenhammer symbol. In 1811, new owners renamed the brand into Fischer & Reichenbach. The company quickly became known for its high quality porcelain and was awarded a gold medal at the Vienna World fair in 1839. In 1852, the company took its most well-known name, Fischer & Mieg. Artist André Carriére was highly influential in the development of the Pirkenhammer style after becoming the head designer in 1868. In 1918, the factory was incorporated to the Epiag Group.
